The Aquafest Ski and Wakeboard tournament is set for Saturday, July 30, beginning at 7 a.m., in the North Cove. An active and community-minded group of avid water sports lovers, and competitors will once again participate in the annual Aquafest Ski and Wakeboard tournament.

The tournament is sponsored by the Lake Stevens Water Ski & Wakeboard Club, a family-oriented nonprofit organization, and supporting sponsors like Grass Roots Sports.

The parent organization is USA Water Ski Club, a member of the Olympic Committee. The event draws competitors, from novice to national level, from all over the area.

The focus of the Lake Stevens Club, since its formation in 1964, has been to offer waterskiing and wakeboard lessons for all skill levels. Instruction is open to children and adults.

A big emphasis is on water safety and learning to water ski and wakeboarding in a safe environment. Lessons are taught by volunteer members, some who are nationally ranked skiers and wakeboarders.

The club also provides organized clean-ups of the City Boat Launch, and an annual $500 college scholarship to a graduating Lake Stevens senior. All are welcome to the monthly club meetings held the second Tuesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m., at the Lake Stevens School District Office Bldg. (room B lower level) 12309 22nd St. NE, Lake Stevens.
