Veterans Forums in Five Counties to Focus on Veterans’ Health Care, Benefits, Job Training
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) will host five Conversations with Veterans during the month of August to update local veterans about his work in Congress on their behalf and to hear from local veterans about the issues important to them.
This year, Larsen has worked to strengthen veterans’ health care and services, helping deliver a new community-based outpatient clinic to Northwest Washington. Serving on the House Armed Services Committee, Larsen helped pass the GI Bill for the 21st Century, historic legislation that takes effect in August to help veterans access higher education and job training. Larsen has also worked to increase pay for military personnel, ensure steady and predictable funding for VA health care and help soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan transition to civilian life.
At each of the Conversations with Veterans, Larsen will be joined by local experts on veterans’ health care, employment and benefits who will help answer questions and provide further information about the services available to the 75,000 veterans who call Northwest Washington home.
