Fire Destroys Home; Couple Escapes Uninjured

Clearview, Wash.  –  At 4:59 p.m. on August 18, Snohomish County Fire District 7 responded to multiple reports of smoke coming from the roof of a home in the 14700 block of 28th Drive SE in Mill Creek. Upon arrival, crews found the house fully involved with flames coming from the garage and three sides of the home. Crews spent roughly 50 minutes knocking down the intense fire.
 
An older couple was home when the fire broke out, and escaped after hearing loud noises in their home. They were uninjured and were being taken care of by family.
 
The home is a complete loss and initial estimates value the home and its contents at $276,000. The fire is believed to be accidental, but the cause is still under investigation. An investigator from Snohomish County Fire District 1 is investigating.
 
Overall, 24 fire personnel responded including units from Snohomish County Fire District 1. Mill Creek Police assisted with traffic in the area.
