The Everett Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating an early morning shooting in south Everett.  At 1:00 a.m. this morning Everett patrol officers responded to the 600 block of 93rd Street SW for a report of a man being shot.  When officers arrived they discovered the 23 year old male victim inside the single family residence who had been shot several times.  The victim told officers that a man had broke into his house and shot him.  The victim said that he was able to get his gun during the attack and returned fire.  The suspect fled the house on foot.  The victim indicted to officers that he thought he may have shot the suspect.

A police K-9 was deployed at the scene to try and track the suspect.  The suspect was located by the K-9 across the street from the victim’s residence in the bushes.  When officers made contact with the suspect they were able to confirm that he too had been struck by gunfire.

The victim and suspect were transported to Everett Providence Hospital.  The victim is being treated for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.  After initial treatment, the suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.  It is not clear at this time whether or not those injuries are life threatening.

There were multiple shot fired within the house.  The exact number has not yet been confirmed nor has it been confirmed how many times each individual was struck.  There were other people in the house at the time of the burglary/assault however no one else was injured.

The motive for the shooting has not been determined.  Detectives will be examining that issue as well as the relationship, if any, between the victim and suspect.
