A 47-year Arlington man was arrested during the weekend for shooting and killing his older brother following an argument on the property they shared with other family members.
Deputies were called about 2 p.m. Saturday to the 16200 block of Grant Creek Road in unincorporated Arlington following reports that the 47-year-old man had shot his 52-year-old brother.
The 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by aid.
Detectives learned the two brothers lived in separate houses on several acres owned by their mother. The brother raised cattle on the land.
The older brother had gone to the younger brother’s house to talk to him about moving some cattle from one part of the property to another. This reportedly led to a fight between the two brothers. The younger brother went to his bedroom and got a rifle. The 47-year-old allegedly fired first into the ceiling and then shot his older brother.
The 47-year-old was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
The case remains under investigation by sheriff’s detectives. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and will confirm and release the victim’s name.
