(Washington, D.C.) –Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) applauded the announcement that four Washington state community non-profits have been awarded funding to help low-income seniors and persons with disabilities find affordable housing.  The funding will provide interest-free capital advances to non-profit developers so they can produce accessible housing, offer rental assistance, and provide supportive services. The grants announced today are provided through HUD's Section 202 and Section 811 Supporting Housing programs. As Chairman of the Senate Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Murray has fought to make sure these critical programs were adequately funded over the years.
 
“These local investments will help non-profit organizations across the state continue their great work helping low-income families get off the streets and into a home,” saidSenator Patty Murray. “I have been proud to support this program, and I am very glad that Washington state families are going to get access to the resources they need to avoid homelessness.”
