No Community Transit Bus Service on Labor Day

Snohomish County, Wash. - Community Transit buses and DART paratransit
service will not operate on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6. The RideStore
also will be closed on Labor Day.

In June, Community Transit suspended Sunday and major holiday service
as part of the agency’s cost-cutting measures. Sundays and holidays
had less than a quarter of the ridership of a regular weekday. Community
Transit does not expect to restore Sunday or major holiday service this
year or in 2011.

By suspending service on these low ridership days, Community Transit is
able to maintain frequent service on days with much greater demand.
Community Transit’s revenues have dropped severely in the recent years
due to the prolonged recession, falling to 2005 levels.

Sound Transit and Everett Transit continue to provide service seven
days a week.

Community Transit strives to help Puget Sound commuters think transit
first. With 54 local and commuter bus routes and one of the nation’s
largest vanpool programs, the agency is a leader in finding new ways to
make alternative transportation an attractive option. Call Community
Transit at (425) 353-RIDE or (800) 562-1375 for bus information, or
(888) 814-1300 for carpool or vanpool information, or go to
www.communitytransit.org.
