Full closures of westbound US 2 trestle in Everett start Thursday night

EVERETT – Media is invited to join Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) engineers under the westbound US 2 trestle Wednesday, June 8, to learn about full closures of the roadway starting Thursday night. 

 

Crews will close westbound US 2 between State Route 9 and Interstate 5 for up to 65 nights this summer while they repair the girders that support the trestle. Drivers can expect the lengthy detour to add 15 to 35 minutes to their trips depending on their destination. Closures will take place between 7:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.

 

Climb up on the work platforms to get an up-close look at the corroded steel and cracking concrete on the girders beneath the trestle. WSDOT project staff will be on hand to discuss the project and detour routes.

·         10 a.m., Wednesday, June 8

 

Where:

·         WSDOT work zone located below the westbound US 2 trestle between 51st Avenue S.E. and 50th Avenue S.E. (see directions below)

Directions:

From eastbound US 2:

·         Take the exit to Ebey Island/Homeacres Road.

·         Go straight through first stop sign.

·         At the second stop sign, take a left onto 51st Avenue S.E.

·         Turn left onto 20th Street S.E.

·         Turn right into the construction site and park in the gravel area.

 

From westbound US 2:

·         Take the exit to Ebey Island/Homeacres Road.

·         Stay straight to continue on 20th Street S.E.

·         Turn right into the construction site and park in the gravel area.
