Providence Regional’s Hands-On Health Fair
 
Providence Regional Medical Center is hosting a FREE Hands-On Health Fair on Saturday, November 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Providence Cymbaluk Medical Tower, 1700 13th Street, Everett. Twenty-seven interactive booths on a variety of health topics will be hosted by Providence nurses and physicians.  InsideOut – the Original Organ Show will be the highlight of the Hands-On Health Fair.  InsideOut nurses use real human organs – including tar-laden lungs from smoking, a heart with a bullet hole, a liver hardened by alcohol abuse and more – to reveal the effects of unhealthy behaviors on the inside of the body. Behavioral Health, maternity services, cardiac services, IV therapy, emergency services, sexual assault forensic nurses, stroke clinicians, and others will be hosting booths with interactive games, screenings, giveaways and prizes.  Here’s just a sampling of other Hands-On Health Fair activities:
·         Flu Shots – only $10
 
·         Sim Man – a full-size training mannequin will be used to teach CPR and pulse detection – he even talks!
 
·         SafeKids – helmet fitting demos and height measurement for car seats
 
·         Sexual Assault forensic nurses – learn how to recognize sex offender behavior
 
·         Five Wishes – Chaplains will provide a legal document for advance directives and end-of-life choices
 
·         Hand Hygiene – learn proper hand-washing technique then test efficiency with a special germs detector light box
 
·         Get a free Heel Scan –  to test for osteoporosis
 
·         Addiction specialists – talk to clinicians specially trained in drug and alcohol addiction
 
·         Screenings: blood pressure, oxygen saturation, pulse
 
·         Joint replacement – learn about arthritis, see what replacement joints look like and talk with an orthopedic surgeon
