James Robert Jurss
The Marysville Police Department will be holding a public notification meeting to release information regarding a Level III Sex Offender residing within the city limits of Marysville. James Robert Jurss has registered as a sex offender with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and will be residing in the 4900 block of 61st Street NE., Marysville. Jurss is a 25 year old white male who is approximately 5-07 and 170 pounds. He has black hair and blue colored eyes.
The public meeting will be held Thursday, December 08, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m., and will be held on the second floor of the Marysville Public Safety Building located at 1635 Grove St., in the Police Training Room.
According to official documents Jurss pled guilty to Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes on July 08, 2009 and was sentenced to 26 months incarceration. Jurss began having sexual contact with a 14 year old female victim he had met two weeks prior. Schoolmates of the victim told a school councilor which led to his arrest.
Prior sex crimes include a conviction in 2000 in McHenry County, Illinois. Jurss was 14 years old at the time and sexually assaulted two boys, ages 4 and 6, he was babysitting. During the investigation, Jurss admitted to having assaulted two other victims, both males ages 6 and 7. These crimes were never adjudicated.
Jurss had attended sex offender treatment when he was a juvenile. He will be on active supervision with the Marysville office of the Department of Corrections for a period of 36 months.
This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. Level III Sex Offenders are those offenders whose risk assessments indicate a High risk of re-offense within the community at large.
