Bellingham to become first link for electric road trips
WSDOT breaks ground on the first stop of West Coast Green Highway
BELLINGHAM – The Washington State Department of Transportation and Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike invite the media to document this historic milestone, as they break ground on Washington’s segment of the West Coast Green Highway  and Bellingham’s first public DC fast-charging station for electric vehicles. The event takes place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bellingham’s Sehome Village Shopping Center, in the parking lot near Starbucks. It will be the first of many similar public/private ventures to come that will form the nation’s first border-to-border infrastructure for travel by electric vehicle.
AeroVironment, the manufacturer, installer and operator of the Green Highway network of EV DC fast-charging stations, will install additional charging stations every 40 to 60 miles along stretches of Interstate 5 between the Canadian border and Everett and between Olympia and the Oregon border, as well as along U.S. Highway 2 between Everett and Leavenworth.
