Toll rates and ferry operations among topics at March Transportation Commission meeting

OLYMPIA – Bridge tolls and future toll revenue requirements, along with ferry operations and performance top the agenda items for the Washington State Transportation Commission’s regular meeting next week in Olympia.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, with a briefing on the Washington State Department of Transportation’s experience with stormwater management, followed by a report on targeted transit improvements in Central Puget Sound. Tuesday afternoon the commission will receive the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee’s toll rate recommendations and will propose new toll rates for public review and comment.
On Wednesday, March 21, the commission will discuss setting performance targets for Washington State Ferries (WSF), review WSF’s operational strategies, discuss the 2012 Ferry Riders’ Opinion Group survey and hear a briefing on King County’s passenger-only ferry service. Discussion of the SR 520 financial plan and future toll revenue requirements will take place on Wednesday afternoon, followed by a State Auditor’s Office report of its performance audits on WSDOT tolling and WSF capital delivery.
The meeting will take place at the Transportation Building on the Capital Campus, 310 Maple Park Ave. SE, in Olympia, at 9 a.m. each day. The meeting is open to the public and persons wishing to speak to the commission may do so during the public comment period scheduled for 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
