Community Projects, Events Needed for Leadership Development Class

Everett, Wash. – Participants in Leadership Snohomish County’s Signature Leadership class and its Young Leaders Challenge are looking for community projects and events to take on this fall. Community-based nonprofits and social service agencies are encouraged to submit ideas for projects or events now through August 20, 2012
An orientation and Leadership Snohomish County Project Question/Answer session will be offered at United Way of Snohomish County on July 18,th 10:30am in the United Way Boardroom. All local non-profits are welcome to attend this one hour information session. Address: 3120 McDougall Ave., Everett, WA
Leadership Snohomish County accepts proposals from non-profit organizations serving Snohomish County residents. Projects take place between November and April. The projects re used to strengthen awareness about local needs and local organizations. The class participants develop their community building skills through these projects.
The Young Adult Class will select 5 projects that support non-profit events. Nearly every non-profit has an event right? It can be an event to recognize volunteers, a fundraising event, an awareness or advocacy event, the list is unlimited.
The Signature Class will select six projects. The projects can be to support board development, needs assessments, feasibility studies, a hands on project to improve something, etc.In the past fifteen years the class has worked on projects to ranging from shoe drives to basketball court building, health care access, and support for veterans. They have done projects to benefit the elderly, babies, families, animals, and the environment.

Non-profit organizations with a community project or event in mind can go to www.leadershipsc.org to download an application form. The project or event must serve residents or communities within Snohomish County. Organizations must have 501c3 non-profit status to apply. Applications are due by 5 p.m. August 20, 2012.
