SEATTLE—Washington Conservation Voters Executive Director Brendon Cechovic issued this statement following the election of Jay Inslee as Washington's next governor:

“Washington Conservation Voters and environmentalists across the nation are celebrating the victory of Jay Inslee. Washington voters are overwhelmingly environmental voters who embraced Inslee’s vision for a clean energy economy. This race was a referendum on these issues, and Washington state made a statement to the rest of the country: we are moving forward.”

Washington Conservation Voters was the first organization to endorse Jay Inslee. The organization ran its largest campaign effort in history to elect Inslee as Washington governor.

WCV's 2012 campaign highlights include:

Raised and spent over $750,000, making the environmental community one of the biggest political actors in the state.
Recruited nearly 1,000  volunteers across the state, who knocked on over 16,000 doors for Inslee and made 6,000 volunteer phone calls.
WCV’s targeted independent expenditure for Inslee contacted 275,000 voters by mail, 200,000 voters by telephone and over 400,000 via internet advertising.
