Three overnight closures of US 2 near Snohomish are planned next week as WSDOT reaches a major milestone in construction of the new overpass from Bickford Avenue.

On the nights of Monday, Dec. 17 through Wednesday, Dec. 19, large cranes will hoist eight bridge girders for the new overpass into place. US 2 must be closed in both directions because the girders will be swung directly over the highway as they’re positioned. Crews will also build work platforms around the girders. That will allow the crews to work over the highway in the coming months and minimize the number of road closures.
One lane of eastbound US 2 will close at 7 p.m. with both lanes closed at 10 p.m. Westbound US 1 will close at 8 p.m. Both directions will open daily by 5 a.m.  There will also be several ramp closures.  You can find more information about those closure times on the Snohomish County construction update report.
Drivers will use the same detour via SR 9 and 20th Street Southeast that was used this past summer during previous closures.

On a side note, you previously received these advisories from Meghan Pembroke. She recently left WSDOT for a new career opportunity and communications for this project has transitioned to me. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
