Detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit have completed the investigation of the death of jail inmate Michael Saffioti.  The 22 year-old died on July 3 and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was bronchial asthma.  He was booked into the county jail by Lynnwood Police Department on July 2.
The Saffioti case report was forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney's Office with no criminal referral. The Sheriff's Office will initiate an internal investigation, as is standard procedure, after the Prosecuting Attorney completes his review of the case.
