Drivers who use the new Bickford Avenue overpass to reach westbound US 2 should plan for overnight closures of the interchange from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Thursday, Sept. 26.
Traffic will be detoured via 56th Street Southeast/John Jump Road and Highway 9.
During the closure, a contractor crew will put down the final layer of asphalt on all of the ramps at the interchange during the closures. Temporary striping also will be installed. Permanent striping will be installing in two to three weeks. This work is weather-dependent.
This work is part of the US 2/Bickford Avenue intersection safety and culvert replacement project. The new overpass from Bickford Avenue to westbound US 2 opened on Sunday, Sept. 15. The eastbound on- and off-ramps are scheduled to open early next month.
