Team sports can bring out the best in a community
After having the opportunity to be among the first of what could possibly be millions of people, to see the MTV documentary “Berzerker” about the daily trials and victories of the Lake Stevens wrestling team and watching our football team work incredibly hard each and every day in an effort to become state champs, I’m incredibly inspired by those kids and their coaches.

Tax revenue increased in Washington State, so why can’t we get out of debt?
The Washington State Department of Revenue announced last week that the property tax revenue increased four percent to $9.2 billion in 2011. While this is great news for our government’s pocketbook, I am a little perplexed.

The weekend started out with sun shining down on all of the hundreds of people who showed up to the first ever Relay for Life Lake Stevens and although before the sun went down for the night, rain started to fall, teams continued to support the event and kept walking around the track at Lake Stevens High School until the sun rose again in the east.
