Everett, WA – Village Theatre Pied Piper is excited to present this spectacular production of SEUSSICAL at the Everett Civic Auditorium on Saturday, April 30, 2011.

In true Dr. Seuss spirit, SEUSSICAL is a show that is brimming with imagination and creativity.  “Oh the thinks you can think” when some of the most beloved characters from Dr. Seuss’s classics team up to form this brilliant musical caper.  The mischievous Cat in the Hat is the host and emcee during this exhilarating journey through Seuss’s fantastic stories.  Horton, the gentle elephant, hears a cry for help from a tiny speck of dust, which he vows to guard and protect.  Among the inhabitants of the tiny speck is JoJo, a Who embattled by being a big dreamer in a little world.  Meanwhile, Ms. Gertrude McFuzz is eager to gain the attention of Horton and contends that her lackluster one-feathered tail is thwarting her chances.  Adding to Horton’s burdens is Mayzie La Bird, who encumbers him with the duty of sitting on her egg, leaving him clueless as to when and if she will return.

This production of SEUSSICAL exhibits charming unconventionality that appropriately channels the eccentricity of Dr. Seuss stories.  Between the 12 person touring cast as opposed to the typical 4-6, and the absurd props comprising egg-beaters, salad colanders and more, the essence of Dr. Seuss is captured perfectly.  Pied Piper Manager, Erica Weir, remarks that “As expected from a Dr. Seuss-inspired show, creativity abounds and the result is a fun-filled musical adventure that will delight all audiences.”

This marvelous production comes to Village Theatre from TheatreworksUSA, America’s largest nonprofit theater.  For the past 50 years, they have proudly enlightened, entertained, and instructed over 78 million people in 49 states and Canada.   Among the most outstanding aspects of this production is its “delicious score” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), created by the exceptional Tony Award-winning pair, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on this Island, Anastasia the film).  An amalgamation of timeless Dr. Seuss classics, SEUSSICAL is a sensational show that is guaranteed to excite and entertain audiences of any age.

The public performance of SEUSSICAL will take place Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Everett Civic Auditorium.  One hour prior to curtain, young people are invited to participate in pre-show arts, crafts, and fun in partnership with Imagine Children’s Museum.  Information about the School Season can be found at http://www.villagetheatre.org/pp_school_season.php.
