Who: Tilted Thunder Rail Birds Roller Derby – 2012 Season Opener
When: Sunday, January 29, 2012 - 3:30 pm
What: Tilted Thunder Rail Birds host their 2012 Season Opener, a bout energy-infused with the Snohomish
County Public Utilities District and Housing Hope all under one roof. The Rolling Blackouts will be
hitting the track ready to take on the Sugar Skulls, and the second bout will showcase the Saint
Hellions challenging Royal Crush.

The Tilted Thunder Rail Birds are a 501c3 non-profit organization partnering with Housing Hope for a
toiletry charity drive at this weekend’s bout. The Tilted Thunder Rail Birds mission is to bring
competitive banked track roller derby to the Pacific Northwest while empowering the community,
women, and support groups and organizations advocating women’s rights. For more information on
the Tilted Thunder Rail Birds, or the sport of banked track roller derby, visit www.tiltedthunder.com.
Housing Hope has been providing lasting solutions to families in need throughout the community
since 1987. They focus on providing families who are homeless (or on the brink) with housing, the
means to survive, as well as resources to build self-sufficiency skills to overcome their current
situation. The roller derby girls are excited to join forces with Housing Hope to effectively advance the
missions of the charity. Suggested toiletry items for donation include toothpaste, toothbrushes,
shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, bars of soap, body wash, face cloths, deodorant,
feminine care products, and alcohol-free mouthwash.

Snohomish County Public Utilities District will also be on site with information on best practices to
conserve energy. They will distribute prizes throughout the derby competitions while the Tilted
Thunder Rail Birds broadcast sustainable energy trivia questions encouraging crowd participation
and prize giveaways.
