As with many smaller communities, Lake Stevens is proud of its annual events, the biggest of which is Aquafest, celebrated on the last weekend in July. This year, Aquafest celebrates its 35th year. This festival spans over four days and includes parades, a proud pet show, music, arts & crafts, food booths, athletic competitions, a carnival and a fireworks display on Saturday evening! This is a really fun time for family and friends and is held primarily in downtown Lake Stevens.
Check out our Aquafest photo page! This year will be the second year that Lake Stevens will feature a National Night Out Against Crime, held in August, in conjunction with those in communities across the country. Last years event featured games and activities for younger children, a street dance for teens, demonstrations and crime prevention information. Its a great way to get out, meet your neighbors and learn how to stay safe! Downtown Businesses Safe Halloween is popular with kids who still go out trick or treating. Downtown businesses pass out treats and the local grocer, Jays Market, takes wonderful, free photos of kids in costumes! Last year they took nearly 700 photos! The downtown businesses also decorate, and area nonprofit groups hold a fun-fair carnival at Community Hall. The Dickens Fair is held the first Saturday in December at the Lake Stevens High School. This craft fair has become so popular that if you dont go early there wont be much left to buy. All items sold are handmade, which may provide very special Christmas gifts. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting usually happens the first Saturday in December. Look for dates and times of these events in the Lake Stevens Journal. For those who enjoy the theatre, the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Lake Stevens High School provides varied opportunities for local residents throughout the year. Dance, drama, musical performances and other professional acts are scheduled monthly. While many of the performances are school-related or school-based, residents are encouraged to attend or participate in both school and private performances. The PAC seats 450 and is an excellent facility and investment for our communitys cultural events. |
