EVERETT, Wash. - USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) will depart Naval Station Everett on Dec. 8, after calling Everett home for nearly 15 years.

The Lincoln will get underway with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 9 and USS Momsen (DDG 92) for a scheduled routine deployment.

The Lincoln Strike Group will deploy to the western Pacific Command and Central Command areas of responsibility. After deployment, the Lincoln will head
for her new homeport in Newport News, Va.

The Navy announced December 2010 that USS Nimitz (CVN 68) will replace Lincoln in Everett upon completion of a docking planned incremental
availability (DPIA) maintenance at Bremerton, Wash.

Lincoln has been homeported at Naval Station Everett since January 1997.
