Aquafest 2006 wins state honors

BY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR Every year the Washington Festivals & Events Association holds its annual Summit Awards honoring Washington State festivals and events producers. This year Aquafest walked away with three awards including one gold in Print Poster Advertising and two bronze, one for their web design and one for their promotional brochure.

Tracy Anderson, Aquafest 2007 President was excited about all of the awards but not really shocked.

“I wasn’t surprised about any of them, but we are all the most proud of the Gold award,” she said. “We had a great design last year and Foster Press always does a first class job on our posters and brochures.”

This is quite an honor considering that this year there were more than 150 entries and over twenty festivals throughout the state vying for top honors.

Aquafest has won awards in the past but, according to Anderson it is still exciting to know that their efforts pay off.

“Jeff Matson, our Web Master has always made sure that our website is first class,” Anderson said, “I feel fortunate that we have such talented people working on Aquafest.”

The Summit Awards, which began in 1996, is a competition among Washington festivals that recognizes those in the industry who are continually improving the quality and image of festivals and special events in the eyes of the community and media.
