GRIT turns out new grads

The Getchell Fire Department recently graduated eight recruit firefighters from its Getchell Recruits in Training better known as GRIT from its six week, 360 hour basic firefighter career development academy.

The recruitment process began with 26 applications.

Through the Getchell Fire Department’s selection process that includes a written exam, oral board panel interview, physical agility exam, criminal and driver background investigation, and a physician’s medical physical, the academy began with 13 recruits.

Throughout the six week academy, five recruits either were asked to resign, or resigned on there own due to the academic and physical intensity of the academy.
