Fatal accident takes
young man’s life

BY CHUCK TUCK | JOURNAL REPORTER The collision which involved two vehicles on Jan. 19, took the life of a young 30-year-old husband from Lake Stevens.

The incident happened around noon Saturday on 84th St. NE in the Getchell area west of Granite Falls.

Pat Faris who lives near the 11100 block where the accident took place said he didn’t hear the skidding of tires but wasn’t listening for anything like. He was distracted by the television he was watching.

“People usually drive pretty fast on this road,” he said, “All I heard was a loud boom.”

Faris said he came out soon after to see what had happened, and by that time there were people all around and he thought it would be best to let the paramedics, police, and fire department handle the scene.

Last Wednesday evening a candlelight vigil was held at the spot where Sanders lost his life so suddenly.

Friends, family, and strangers all gathered to pay their respects to a man they loved, and talked of good memories and at the same time cried and comforted one another.

Today a week later, only several orange traffic cones mark the location where Sanders’ life tragically ended.

Many have said that Sanders was a happy-go-lucky type of guy according to an article in the Herald.

Though Sanders has passed, his memories should and will live on long after the marker cones have been removed and the cold chill of winter has passed.
