Fireworks sales in Lake Stevens can help provide a child a homeBY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR Andrew and Amber Welseth have two beautiful children, two and a half year old Emelia and one year old Charlie, but their dream is to add to their family by adopting a child from Ethiopia, but this bold venture does not come cheap. The cost for the adoption will be around $25,000.
“Raising the $25,000 for the adoption is step one,” Welseth said. “Doing all of the home study would be fruitless if we didn’t have some funds to back it up.”
“I used to work with Christian Young Life who used to use fireworks as a fund raiser,” he said. “I thought this would be a great way to raise funds.”
This is a huge adventure for the Welseths but through their faith, they are reassured that this is what they are supposed to do.
“My brother lived in east Africa for a while and ended up adopting a little girl. Our faith and a conviction that this is what God wants us to do is the reason we are doing this,” he explains. “He has a heart for those children out there that don’t have mommies and daddies.”
The Welseths are hoping for an infant but are open to other opportunities.
“We’re hoping to get an infant and everyday really counts with a newborn, but we are keeping an open mind about that. We are even talking about adopting siblings.”
Phantom Fireworks will stock the tent and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Welseths to help with the costs of the adoption process.
“If I drop one latte a day I can give them an incredible life her,” Welseth said.
