Fire in Lake Stevens consumes car, garage
Lake Stevens firefighters save the home from burning BY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR
Smoke could be seen for miles last Friday, July 18, due to the fire which tore through a garage and lean-to on the property located at 1911 114th Ave. NE, just off of 20th St. NE. “When crews arrived, it was fully involved,” Lake Stevens Fire Deputy Chief Dave Lingenfelter said. “The crew chief did a walk around and found the house behind the garage to be in immediate danger, so he set a hose on that building. It is fine now, with blistered paint, but not burned.”
There were no injuries and the Fire Marshal will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
“There is no early indication what caused the fire,” Lingerfelter said.
When they first arrived, a large propane tank was found inside and venting, they removed it and put it to the side, he said.
Neighbors gathered around the home watching firefighters as they continued to fight the fire.
“The flames were really high,” Gail Beerbroer said. “I started hosing down my fence and roof. These guys (the firefighters) were really quick, thank goodness.”
The 1976 Subaru Legacy, which was inside of the garage was a total loss.
