Lake Stevens Rowing Club
founders headed to Beijing

BY CHUCK TUCK | JOURNAL REPORTER Founders of the Lake Stevens Rowing Club, Bob and Barb Cummins, are headed for the Beijing Olympics today to cheer on their daughter-in-law, Anna Mickelson Cummins.

Cummins is a world class rower who graduated from the University of Washington in 2002, and was part of the women’s eight team which set a world record in one of the heats at Athens, Greece, and later took a Silver medal in the finals.

She met her husband Bob at the University of Washington where he was rowing for the school, and was a 1997 world champion rower.

Bob Cummins Sr. said that they are proud of Anna, and have welcomed her to the family.

Currently, their son and Anna reside out of state, but hopes are they will be returning to the Lake Stevens/Seattle Area in Sept.

Cummins Sr. was busy over the weekend not only preparing to leave for the Olympics, but getting other rowers in the Masters class ready for an event in Long Beach, Calif.
“Go U.S.A.,” Cummins Sr. said.
