and Sirens The police department responded to 426 incidents in the week of August 24, 2008 to August 30, 2008. The following is a brief summary of some of the more notable events:

Assault Fourth Degree, 8/27/2008, 500 blk SR 9.
A 30-year-old male was arrested for Assault 4°. An officer responded to the 17-year-old victim location. The victim advised the officer that he was inside McDonalds when the suspect showed up. The two have had confrontations in the past, but believing that hostilities had ceased, the victim approached the suspect. The victim asked the suspect if he was going to punch him again, to which he replied “No”. Then without provocation the suspect struck the victim with a closed fist to the left side of the face. The suspect then turned and ran; he got into a white vehicle driven by a different male and fled the scene. The suspect was later located and booked into jail for Assault 4. 

Assault Fourth Degree Domestic Violence/Theft 3°, 8/28/2008, 9400 blk 15th St NE.
Officers responded to a physical domestic call. The 34-year-old female reported that her male juvenile son had stolen money from her and became verbally abusive and threatened her when she confronted him about it. He tried to leave and pushed her against a wall when she tried to restrain him. He left the house and officers were unable to locate him. This case was forwarded to Juvenile Prosecutors for charging.

Reckless Driving/Harassment, 8/29/2008, 8900 blk Market Pl. NE.
A 43-year-old male was arrested for reckless driving and harassment. Officers were dispatched to Haggens’ parking lot on a priority disturbance. Numerous witnesses reported seeing a male on a motorcycle chasing a female in her car around the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The female victim appeared terrified and they saw her run into Washington Mutual. Officers made contact with both parties. The male suspect reported that the female had cut him off almost causing a collision and had made an obscene gesture when he honked at her. He was following her so that he could yell at her. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)/Collision, 8/29/2008, 600 blk 91 Ave. NE.
A 47-year-old male was arrested for DUI. Officers responded to a collision at a local parking lot and made contact with the 46-year-old female victim. The suspect vehicle was trying to leave the scene and had to be detained by another officer. The victim reported that she was sitting on her motorcycle adjusting her passenger’s helmet when the suspect backed up his vehicle hitting her leg and motorcycle causing her to fall. She had an injury but declined aid. When officers made contact with the suspect, they could smell a strong odor of alcohol. He was questioned and then arrested and transported to jail.
