and Sirens The police department responded to 471 incidents in the week of August 31, 2008 to September 6, 2008. The following is a brief summary of
some of the more notable events: Police/Department: News Release Vehicle Theft, 9/01/2008, 300 blk 91st Avenue Ne
A 52-year-old female reported her vehicle stolen. Officers were dispatched to a theft report and upon arrival contacted the victim. The victim stated that while shopping she placed her keys down and then couldn’t find them. The victim left the store to go to her vehicle and discovered it missing. The vehicle was entered into a computer database as stolen.
 
Obstructing/Attempted Warrant Service, 9/02/2008, 1700 blk Main Street
Officers attempted to arrest a 17-year-old male on a warrant when he fled from police. A female reported that her grandson violated court-ordered curfew and left the house. Officers located the male who also had an active warrant for his arrest. Officers advised the male that he was under arrest and the male turned and ran. Officers were unable to locate the male but did speak to him over the phone. The male was advised that obstructing charges would be referred to the court.

Theft, 9/03/2008, 2200 blk 123rd Avenue Ne
A theft report is under investigation after an 18-year-old male took the victim’s purse and fled. The 18-year-old suspect asked to use the victim’s cellular phone. After returning the phone to the victim, the victim placed her purse on the ground. The suspect then grabbed the purse and fled on foot. The suspect discarded the purse and wallet after removing the money. Witnesses located the suspect and the suspect returned only a portion of the money taken. The case is under investigation.

Possession Stolen Property/Eluding, 9/04/2008, 12400 blk N Lakeshore Drive
A 23-year-old male was booked into jail on possession of stolen property, eluding, possession stolen vehicle, and felony warrant charges. While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle with an attached license plate that did not match the car. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued. Officers terminated the pursuit and a short time later the male was seen by a witness fleeing the car on foot. Officers requested K-9 assistance from another police department. K-9 and officers were able to locate the male and he was placed into custody.

Burglary, 9/05/08, 2800 blk Hartford Drive
An informational report was taken when an onsite security officer heard the gate open. The security officer witnessed a van pull into the parking lot, turn around, and leave. The gate’s lock was cut but nothing was taken.
