Lake Stevens Chamber announces Business
Leaders of the Year
This year the Chamber chose to award Becky Daily of Task Properties and Darwin Smith of the Lake Stevens Sewer District with their Chamber Member of the Year Award during their annual auction and gala last month.
Foster Press was also recognized at the event as the Chamber’s 2008 recipient of the Business of the Year Award.
Each of these individuals and the owners and employees of Foster have committed countless hours to the community through service groups and other boards and organizations.
Daily currently serves in many capacities such as Synergy President, Kiwanis President and works tirelessly at the Lake Stevens Food Bank, just to name a few.
“Becky Daily is one of the most uplifting, positive, and caring people I know,” friend and Chamber Treasurer Tonya Christoffersen said. “Her values and integrity are so right in line that you cannot help but just love her and her outreach for others. She is completely selfless in her acts of kindness towards others.
Smith, who has been Manager of the Lake Stevens Sewer District, has served on the Aquafest Board as the coordinator and chairperson for the Aquafest Parade for several years. He has also been given numerous awards for his outstanding performance by the Department of Ecology.
“What a fun, caring man,” Christoffersen said. “He loves people and doing great things for them; and often times on the sly. Not many people know that Granite Falls named a street after him based on his volunteer commitment to their community.”
Vern and Donna Foster and their employees, daughter Maria Foster Hicks and mom, Betty Foster, are all fixtures in the Lake Stevens community.
Vern serves as a Fire Commissioner and supports several events and service clubs.
Donna has served on Aquafest Board for several years and as Secretary for two years. She also serves on the Lake Stevens Family Center Advisory Board.
“Foster Press has been a long standing member of the Lake Stevens community and has given so much in various ways over the years,” Kathleen Friend, Director for the Lake Stevens Family Center said.
