Lake Stevens business turns pink with the spirit of giving

BY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR The staff at Hillcrest Hair has really thrown themselves into Breast Cancer Awareness month by decorating with pink ribbons and raffling off a huge gift basket full of pink products and tools with proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Kasshia Sleath, Manager of Hillcrest Hair and instigator of this fresh approach to helping others, knows the importance of making people aware of this life-threatening disease.

“I think everybody has some personal issues when it comes to this disease, everybody has been affected by it.” she said. “Two of the girls’ (Hillcrest Hair staff) moms are breast cancer survivors.”

With over $350 worth of fun, high-end hair products and tools like a hair straightener and blow dryer, asking only $5 per ticket is a real bargain. Adding on the fact that all of the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, makes this a great give-away for everyone wanting to help out the cause.

“All of the girls came up with this idea and purchased the items that went into the basket,” Sleath said.

The raffle started on Oct. 1 and the winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday, Nov. 1.

If you would like to buy a raffle ticket or two, drop by Hillcrest Hair located at 430 91st Ave. NE, Suite 2 or call 425-334-6055.
