VETERANS HONORED

Lake Stevens High School honored local veterans at their annual Veteran’s Day assembly last week.

Senator Steve Hobbs, veteran and current Army reservist, was the key note speaker. He spoke on service for freedom and liberty for the United States. 

The assembly included a musical performance of The Armed Forces Salute which represented the theme musical piece for each service; veterans stood at attention when the representative piece was played that represented their service. Student Nick Baker addressed the veterans thanking them for their service and provided a PowerPoint presentation of thanks with reflections on past wars and conflicts. 

Eleven LSHS staff members and teacher who are veterans were recognized and presented with a certificate.

Schmelzer, Todd Welch, Anthony Yates, Erik Willbrandt, Dick Qualey, Dennis Gaasland, Richard H. Batchelder Jr., Bonnie Campbell, Orval Aylesworth, Don Lundquist, Howard Espeseth, Jim Mitchell, George Thorliefson, Bob Bechtloff, Dave Fosket, Herman Hagglund, Howard Negaard, Ron McEntire, Gene Trunell, Truman Peterson, Jack Sahlbom, Robert DeFrang, Forrest J. Houle, Jim L. Martin, Mike Shephard, Mari de Jong, Blaine Bafus, Steve Berg, John Unckles, Mike Walsh, William Angdahl, Bob Tremlin, Rob Davis, Kristen Comeau and Dennis Rabe.
