Tips for Firefighters raised over $3,000 for children

A big thanks to Ixtapa staff and Lake Stevens Fire for making this year’s “Tips for Firefighters” a great success. JOURNAL STAFF On Saturday, Dec. 6, customers with big appetites filled the foyer of Ixtapa waiting for their turn to be served by firefighters in Santa hats at the Fifth Annual Tips for Firefighters event.

Firefighters helped servers during the dinner rush in order to earn extra tips. The extra tips are raised to buy Christmas gifts for deserving kids of the Lake Stevens community. This year the event raised $3,200.

Firefighter and coordinator of the event, Pat Cook, was very pleased with this year’s turnout.

“I’d like to thank the community for coming out despite tough economic times in order to support kids in the community,” Cook said. “Lake Stevens is a great community that looks after people in need no matter the cause. Thank you to Francisco and Ema Barajas for being a cornerstone of the community and for supporting this and other community endeavors.”

Lake Stevens firefighters will be able to provide gifts for 32 children this Christmas, however there are still many children who need your help. If you would like to make a monetary or gift donation, please contact Kathleen Friend with the Family Center at 425-397-7433.

Lake Stevens Fire would like to thank the community for their continuing support. Happy Holidays!
