Lights and Sirens

The police department responded to 419 incidents in the week of January 11 to January 17, 2009. The following is a brief summary of some of the more notable contacts:

Residential Alarm, 01/11/2009, 3000 blk 125th Avenue Ne
Officers assisted the fire department with a residential alarm when they had to force entry into a vacant home. Officers arrived and found an interior alarm going off in a vacant house. Entry was gained into the home and a water leak and large amount of condensation was found. Water was secured at the main and the residence was re-secured. A message was left for the homeowner to advise them of the incident.

DV Assault/Driving with Suspended License, 01/12/2009, 12400 blk 10th Street Ne
A 27-year-old male was booked into jail on assault and driving with a suspended license charges. Officers were dispatched to an assault complaint and upon arrival contacted the victim. The victim reported that her husband pushed her down the stairs and kicked her in the head. The suspect fled the scene when police were called. The male was located a short time later driving. A computer check of his identification revealed he had a suspended driver’s license. The male was placed under arrest and transported to jail.

Welfare Check, 01/13/2009, 10400 blk Vernon Road
An informational report was taken when police were requested by CPS to check the welfare of a female juvenile. Child Protective Services advised they received a complaint that the juvenile had several scratches and bruises on her face caused by her step-father. The juvenile was contacted and officers found that she had absolutely no scratches or bruises. Additional investigation revealed that the call may have been made maliciously.

DUI, 01/14/2009, 2700 blk N Machias Road
A 50-year-old male was booked into jail on DUI charges. While on patrol, an officer observed the male nearly collide with another vehicle. The officer stopped the car and contacted the driver immediately noticing an odor of intoxicants emanating from the vehicle. The male refused to take the breath test and the officer obtained a search warrant for a blood test to be performed. The test was conducted and the male was transported to jail.

Theft/Forgery, 1/15/2009, 700 blk Sr 9
Criminal charges were referred to the prosecutor when a 32-year-old male cashed a forged check. The victim called the insurance company to report never receiving the check and a stop payment was issued. Police were notified when the business got the stop payment notice and officers were able to identify the suspect.
