CERT Training starts at end of month

Lake Stevens Fire, Arlington Fire and Marysville Fire are teaming up for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training starting March 27. The course will run for seven consecutive Fridays from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

The CERT program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members will provide immediate assistance to victims, organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site and give critical support to first responders. Through training, citizens will know how to put out small fires, provide basic medical aid, rescue victims safely and will understand the basics of disaster psychology and team organization.

Anyone who is physically capable of helping someone in the event of an emergency can take the CERT Training course. Participants must attend all seven classes in order to be certified as a CERT member. Registration information can be found online. The cost of the course is $20.

The first class will be held at Marysville Fire Department, Station 62, located at 10701 Shoultes Road. An informational brochure with class times, locations and registration form is posted on the website of each department.
