Over 30 people witnessed the event which included veterans from each branch of the service and every wartime era from WWII. Members from Auxiliary Unit 181 were also in attendance. Jake Cabuag, Department (state) Area I Vice-Commander, officiated with the assistance of Betteann Becktell, District 2 Commander.
Continuing as the post commander, Anthony Morea was re-elected for his third term at the May business meeting. Newly elected members are Ward Isom as Historian and Don Mulder as 2nd-Vice Commander. Vern Rasmussen was promoted to 1st-Vice Commander. Other re-elected officers include Adjutant Tom Thorleifson, Finance Officer Kim Ralls, Judge Advocate Alan Butterfield, Service Officer Michael Shephard, Chaplain Dale Smith, and Sergeant-At-Arms Ron McEntire. These officers officially begin their duties at the conclusion of the Department (state) Convention on July 19 in Spokane. Morea, Thorleifson, and Rasmussen will represent Post 181 at that state event.
The American Legion consists of honorably-discharged wartime veterans with the primary purpose of caring for veterans and next of kin who are in need.
In addition The Legion is active in the community with various programs that promote American values and safe and strong families.
