Over night Friday, Oct. 2, a water main broke near Sunnycrest Elementary. The school was closed for the day, families and bus routes were notified.

While most families got the news before they sent their children to school that morning, some had already put them on the bus and parents were notified to come and pick up their children.

As of Friday afternoon the county was working to clean up the mess and get Sunnycrest students back to school.

The affected area included over fifty homes and according to county officials took over five hours to clean up.

Sunnycrest Elementary students went back to school as normal on Monday.
