Workers at the Lake Stevens Food Bank separate and box food for needy families in L.S. This year, the Lake Stevens High School Vikings are putting on a massive food drive and Giving Tree Present Drive for members of our community. The goal is to collect 25,000 items and 250 gifts for local families.
To participate in the “Giving Tree” just pick up a paper ornament with gift instructions from Lake Stevens High School or Cavelero Mid-High and bring the unwrapped gift back to the same location with the paper ornament attached.
They are also accepting canned foods, toiletry items, and monetary donations.
The food drive and present drive starts on Dec. 2 and continues through Dec. 17.
All food is going to the Lake Stevens Food Bank, while the gifts are going to families in need at the Lake Stevens Family Center.
The Lake Stevens Food Bank is in great need of all the help they can get this holiday season with low numbers of food and a continued increase of community members in need.
This year, students at Lake Stevens High School are going out in the community to help out the food bank. Lake Stevens’ students are holding two blitz nights in the community where students go out and collect food from local neighborhoods. The dates are as follows:
Monday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
It is an easy way to contribute to the community food drive.
There will also be Lake Stevens High School students at local stores in the Lake Stevens Community promoting the food drive.
Students will be at these stores at various dates, but there are set dates at Jay’s Market in downtown Lake Stevens:
Friday, Dec. 4 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the “Downtown Tree Lighting”
Friday, Dec. 11 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 12 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for Santa Pictures at 4 p.m.
A bin will be available for donation drop offs at Jay’s Market.
Additionally, the Lake Stevens Boys & Girls Club will also be heavily involved. There will be food donation boxes at the Boys & Girls Club where you can donate at any time of the day. Furthermore, you can join in donating and supporting LSHS students at weekend basketball games at the Boys & Girls Clubs on the following dates:
Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5
Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12
Please feel free to stop by the Boys & Girls Clubs during these times to donate any food items to help the cause.
If you have any questions about donating to the food drive and/or the giving tree feel free to contact Joe Cronin, the Leadership teacher at Lake Stevens High School, at phone number 425-299-1339 or by email at joe_cronin@lkstevens.wednet.edu.
The students, staff, and administration are very excited about the opportunity to make a difference in the community.
