Devin Wood of Lake Stevens has battled advanced throat cancer for nearly a year. His son, Blake, 8, has endured several intense medical crises this year as well. Tami, Devin’s wife, has her hands full caring for Devin and Blake, as well as daughters Brittnee, 11, and Brielle, 4. The family is facing their struggle with courage and grace, but could use help with past and ongoing medical bills and living expenses.

Friends and neighbors have put together a Jingle Bell Jog and Cancer Walk for the Devin Wood Family that promises to put the “fun” in fundraiser.
To be held Saturday, December 12, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Cavelero Mid-High track, the event will include an affordable, holly jolly time for the whole community.

A Bouncy House, face painting, balloons and a visit from Santa are planned. Kids can check out a real fire truck. The Lions Club is bringing its hot dog wagon, and there will also be other food, coffee and hot cocoa for sale.
Live entertainment will include Tami Wood singing a song from her upcoming debut album. The CD can be pre-ordered at the Jingle Bell Jog for a donation of $10 or more.

Several raffle prizes have been donated, among them a $600 diamond ring, gift certificates for Tae Kwon Do lessons, music lessons, nutrition products, espresso drinks, a personalized sports blankets, gift baskets of body care items, video games and first aid/safety supplies. Raffle tickets are $1 each with all proceeds going directly to the family.

There is no entry fee for the Jog/Walk. If possible, participants are encouraged to secure sponsorship/donations before the race and bring them to check-in/registration.

The first 250 entrants receive free jingle bells. The first 50 to turn in $25 will get a free Santa hat, with runners/walkers turning in $50 or more receiving a free raffle ticket.
Registration begins with check-in at noon. There will be two 30-minute heats, each with separate lanes for runners, walkers and people with strollers.

The first heat starts at 12:30 p.m.; the second at 1 o’clock. A 100-yard Kiddie Dash for children 10 and under starts at 1:45.

Spectators are encouraged to bring jingle bells to ring out their support for the Wood family. Cavelero Mid-High is located at 8220 24th Street SE.
