Steve Brooks accepts his Lion of the Year award as the club celebrates their 50th anniversary.

As the Lake Stevens Lions Club celebrated their 50th anniversary of service here in Lake Stevens, the Club chose to recognize Steve Brooks as this year’s Lion of the Year; his selection came easy to the committee due to his endless hours of commitment he makes to the club, both locally and to the organizations charter.  Brooks is always going above and beyond his club duty as Secretary and making a difference for all with his involvement.
Brooks has been with the Lake Stevens Lions since 2002 and has filled every position on the board, currently serving as Secretary of the club, and in July he will take the position as club President and hopes to eventually become a District Governor for the Lions Club.

Brooks has been a resident of Lake Stevens for twenty-five years and lives here with his wife Judy. Like so many, he fell in love with the area and decided this is where they would settle and build their home.

He had grown up in Lynnwood and was active with the Boy Scouts there, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout.  Brooks was on vacation and met his future bride in Rochester, New York; she describes him as very ambitious and smart. Brooks and his wife Judy enjoy camping in their trailer and he is on the board with the Good Sam Club; another organization he takes pride in.

Brooks obtained his Masters in Business Administration and currently works for Intermec. During his down time he keeps busy working on a home remodeling project;  the Lions Club keeps him busy as he is their webmaster as well as Secretary, and of course the Good Sam Club.

Being involved in his community is important to Brooks; he always wants to help others and to make a difference in their lives. He was also a past city council member who served Lake Stevens well in that capacity.
