Recently, a partnership between the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department, the Lake Stevens Police Department, the Salvation Army of Everett & Snohomish County, and the Lake Stevens Target Store came together to participate in the Target’s second annual “Shop With A Cop” campaign.

This project pairs low income children with dedicated members of law enforcement to ensure these students start the school year with the supplies and clothes they need.

Target generously provides the gift cards and a safe venue for the shopping.

According to Captain Dana Libby of the Salvation Army, many of these families participate with the Salvation Army’s transitional or permanent housing programs and are working their way toward self-sufficiency.

“Nobody loses because the children cherish the chance to spend time with the police and deputies, the law enforcement folks get to interact in a positive manner, and Target gets to host a wonderful event,” Libby said.
