The mother of nine Lake Stevens-Granite Falls graduates of the l960’s and 70’s, Lillian McFarland celebrated her 90th Birthday with an Orlando, Flor. vacation with her daughters Marcia, Valda, Lorrie and son Vance.

Attending also were her granddaughter Brenda Perkins and Aaron West, great grandson Justin Davis whose fiance Trish also had her 2lst Birthday on Jan. 22.

Next comes a March vacation to Everett-Marysville where two more children Dawn and Dale reside and 20 grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren from Yelm to Everett to Marysville to Stanwood.

McFarland’s life was that of being a mentor, sponsor, pusher and driver of her children to be Valedictorians (two), College Graduates  (five with several more in the second-thirds generation), Master’s Degrees (three), athletes (two) with high school and college letters with notable grandchildren winning many awards in basketball, track, football, tennis, soccer, gymnastics (Jayme being a State Champion in her youth). McFarland loved all the awards, ribbons, letters, newspaper clippings including many from the Lake Stevens Journal she gave to her children—honor rolls, report cards, SAT and National Merit Test Results,  Iowa Tests, Letters she kept for all decades from their days at Lake Stevens-Granite Falls schools.

In her very active 90th year McFarland loves the careers, news and work of all her children, their children and grandchildren. Reading news of the Lake Stevens-Granite Falls area her children sent to her Chloride, Ariz.  home. Going strong  McFarland looks forward to more news from her children about their school and work careers, community roles, travels, and busy lives.
