Girls at state for leadership

Ten students from Lake Stevens High School attended Girls State in June. Girls spent an entire week on the Central Washington University Campus in Ellensburg and participated in a simulated learning experience in leadership and government.



Girls that particiapted in Girls State this year.


Sara Bradley was elected as Supreme Court Justice and Darrien Connley was elected as a Senator. Mattie Quigley was selected as party chairwoman. Others attending were Jasmyn Friend, Megan Pryor, Katelyn Wiens, Alexa Asmus, Jasmin Reys, Kelsey Reimers, and Kari Green who all were involved at the local, county, and state level as citizens.

Girls State is a national program established by The American Legion Auxiliary. Financial sponsorship, in addition to Lake Stevens American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181, was by the Lake Stevens Kiwanis, Arlington Auxiliary Unit 76, and by private donations.
