Did you know that there are over 1,000 students in the Lake Stevens School District on Individualized Education Plans, known as IEPs? These IEPs fall under a category called Special Services in our district.
Would you like to know more about IEPs or the budgeting and funding process for Special Services? If so, the Lake Stevens Special Education Parent/Teacher group would like to invite you to their kickoff meeting for the 2011/12 school year on Monday, Oct. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the library at Mt. Pilchuck Elementary.
At this first meeting, the Executive Director of Special Services for the LSSD, Miriam Tencate, will be talking about and answering such questions.
The Lake Stevens Education Parent Group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Monday of each month during the LSSD school year in the Mt. Pilchuck Elementary School Library.
Each month a guest speaker will share information on an educational and resourceful topic.
This parent/teacher group is sponsored by the Mt. Pilchuck PTA, but is open to anyone with an interest in a child or adult with special needs. You do not need to be a PTA member to attend.
If you have questions about this group, would like to be notified in advance about monthly speaker/topic information, or need to arrange for childcare, please contact Rebecca DeFrang at rdefrang@comcast.net or call 425-418-4532.
The group also has a Facebook page: Lake Stevens Special Education Parent/Teacher Group. You can also find more information about the group on this site.
