A 28-year-old male was killed in a vehicle accident on Highway 92 and North Machias Road on Tuesday, Dec. 27 while driving his 1995 Chrysler Sebring.
The highway was closed for hours while police investigated the accident which occurred at 3:30 p.m.
“The causing driver was on Machias Road traveling northbound and he pulled out in front of the eastbound SUV,” Washington State Trooper Keith Leary said. “The SUV struck the car on the driver’s side.”
The 26-year-old female driver of the 1992 Toyota Landcruiser sustained injuries that were not life threatening. She was transported to Providence Hospital. She is from Lake Stevens
The Chrysler’s driver died at the scene. His 39-year-old passenger was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
“There was no alcohol involved,” Leary said. “The driver failed to yield.”
Troopers are still trying to locate the deceased’s next of kin, which are currently in Honduras.
