Senator Steve Hobbs

Applauding the work of the Washington State Redistricting Commission, U.S. Congressional candidate and current State Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens, released the following statement:

“This is good news for the people of Washington state who will have a Congressional district that represents the values and beliefs of working families across the political spectrum.

“I am the only candidate with a strong track record of appealing to liberal, moderate, and conservative voters. As a life-long resident of the 1st Congressional District, I live the hometown values voters want to see in their Representative.
“These are people who are more concerned with making ends meet than the partisan bickering going on right now in Washington, D.C. They are the same hard working, independent people who I have represented and who I hope to represent in the other Washington.

“I’m going to work hard to meet as many people as I can during the campaign because it will help me represent Washington voters better. I look forward to running a vigorous, spirited campaign for this seat representing the people of Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and King Counties, and in my own hometown of Lake Stevens.”

Steve Hobbs was elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 to the Washington State Senate in a district—similar to the new 1st Congressional District—that is politically balanced between Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.

Hobbs currently serves as an officer in the Washington Army National Guard and proudly served in Iraq and Kosovo.
