Granite Falls Sportsmen’s Club (GFSC) located at 20319 Gun Club Rd. is holding the 47th Annual Spring Turkey Shoot on Sunday, April 1 at 10 a.m.
Don’t know what a Turkey Shoot is? GFSC wants anyone who is curious about what a Turkey Shoot is, to come, see and participate. The event is a fundraiser for the not for profit club.
GFSC also collects donations for the Granite Falls Food bank, so please bring non-perishable food items. It is a chance to show off your prowess with a shotgun or luck at bingo and raffles to win either a Turkey or Ham for your Easter celebration. Shotgun games are $4 each or five games for $22 with a guaranteed prize. Bingo and raffles start at $1.
GFSC was established in 1932 and has run continuously. Eighty years in the community, most families in Granite Falls can name one or two relatives that have been involved in the Club over the years. The taxidermy mounts on the walls date back to the 1930’s. The pictures of members past and present hold many memories. There is artwork from students who attended hunter education classes. There is a long list of residents that held their first job as a “trapper”.
GFSC Turkey shoots are held the Sunday before Easter and Thanksgiving. These events help us in our mission to promote and advance shooting activities and events, to present a positive image to the non-shooting community, to encourage family participation in the sport, and to maintain a safe and pleasurable shooting environment.
