North Cascades Crew, located on Lake Stevens, attended the USRowing Northwest Masters Regional Championship Regatta held in Klamath Falls, Oregon June 15 through 17.
With a total of 33 crews in attendance from areas including Canada, Arizona, California, Washington, Oregon and Colorado, the Northwest Masters Regional Championship Regatta is the largest sprint regatta competition held annually in the Northwest Region.
Representing the City of Lake Stevens and Snohomish County was North Cascades Crew with Masters rowers Katherine Runyon (60), Jennifer Huffman (41), Wendy Clark (40), Ben McIsaac (51) and Coach Fleming Brainerd. The team secured 13 championship medals total at the event.
Huffman and Clark won Gold in two Women’s Double events in both the A and B age categories. Huffman, won Gold in the Women’s A Single and B Single events. Clark won Silver in the Women’s B Single event and Bronze in the Women’s A single event.
Runyon won Silver in the Women’s E Lightweight Single and Bronze in the F+ Single. Runyon and McIsaac won Bronze in the Mixed Double and McIsaac brought home Gold in his Men’s Lightweight Single event.
The sprint regatta was held on Ewauna Lake in Klamath Falls on a six lane 1000 meter course. Conditions were challenging with 10 mile an hour winds during Friday and Saturday racing.
