Pilchuck Principal Chris Larson with Chamber President Kim Daughtry sit atop the roof at Mount Pilchuck Elementary after students exceeded their fundraising goals.
Students at Mount Pilchuck Elementary School really got down to business during the month of June bringing in donations to support the new Leader in Me program that the school will be initiating next year.
But that’s not all the kids raised money for!
They wanted to see their principal, Chris Larson, get a “time out” on the roof of the school during field day!
The students were promised that if they could raise $2,000 by June 19, Mrs. Larson would prop herself onto the roof for an hour. The kids went above and beyond their goal.
“Our goal was $2,000 and they brought in just over $3,200,” Larson said. “It was a fun contest. Teachers had little competitions with other classes and incentives, too.”
Larson told the kids she would stay up there for two hours since they had almost doubled their goal.
Larson was joined by Chamber of Commerce President Kim Daughtry. The Chamber of Commerce is joining in the effort to raise funds for this Stephen R. Covey program, which helps kids become successful in school and in their communities.
